April 14th, 2010 Jenny Comments off

From the Body Shop the Body Shop Body Butter includes some of the most well known natural skincare products on the planet. The shea butter is of the highest quality and is sourced from Ghana where the local women have used it for centuries to protect hem from the Sahara winds. As well as Cocoa Butter and Soy Oil are included in the blends. All of these are thanks to community trade agreements which benefit the villages where they are sourced from. These are fantastic skincare products to use and at the same time know that they are creating a win-win situation for everyone concerned.

The range reminds me a lot of the Delon Body Butter range and is of the same high standard with great presentation and well thought out product choices that work well to hydrate your skin as well as make you feel and smell great.

Some of the products include Sweet Lemon Body Butter, Aloe, Coconut and Moroccan Rose Body Butter, Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter. The range is actually huge and some of the products are in the shopping carousel. The products also include the finest natural ingredients outside which make you feel fantastic and smell amazing. Check out the Body Shop Body Butter and I am sure you will not be disappointed. Regards, Jen.

Body Butter Has Endless Choices

February 6th, 2010 Jenny Comments off

Hey it’s Jen here! One of the attractions I have with body butter is the endless choices that are available. From Marshmallow body butter through to Goats Milk Body Butter, the body butter recipes are so varied. They have appeal to a wide range of tastes. The products are also exciting and incredibly good for your skin. I tend to stick with body butters that have a large shea butter content but I do mix the aromas around.

Using a high quality Rose Body Butter will leave you smelling absolutely divine all day, and chocolate body butter is really something else.

Generally consisting of a fat or oil base from a natural butter such as mango butter or shea, the base is mixed with other minerals, vitamins and ingredients such as essential and fragrant oils. These different options leave it wide open for several thousand possibilities! That means that you can find a product that is very much suitable for you and your own well being.

If you are a little stressed then you may want to opt for a lavender body butter which will naturally help relieve tension. On the other hand if you are after a product that is uplifting why not try Lemongrass Body Butter ?

Make sure you check out the online shop as well as visit a few of the selected pages that have outsourced products on them. I am sure you will find something that will suit you…and be sure to let me know how it goes. All the best, Jen.

Beautify, Not Toxify With Organic Body Butters

October 5th, 2009 Jenny Comments off

Butter is not just food you stuff into your mouth; now it’s food you can feed the skin as well, thanks to highly hydrating organic body butter.

Brief History of Organic Butters
Organic butters are just that – organic. They’re at the forefront in the cosmetics industry’s campaign to go healthy and eco-friendly through the use of natural ingredients. The concept behind this type of butters is not new, though. For years, and even dating as far back as the mid-fourteenth century, the women of West Africa have been gathering and processing shea, one of the more popular components of body butter. They used the nut as lamp oil and ointment. They also used it for food, with shea being a vital source of nutrition for the average Burkinabe family. On top of it all, shea also saw use as a soap and — you guessed it — moisturizer.

Organic Body Butter: Then and Now
In the old days, making organic butter was very labor-intensive. The nuts had to be boiled, sun-dried, and shelled by hand. After that, they are crushed, roasted, pounded, and kneaded. Today, many women make organic butters in the confines of their homes, using liquid oils and ingredients they can easily pluck out of the pantry or make quick trips to the grocery for. Cosmetic companies spend and earn millions selling organic butters. Dermatologists, mothers, and Oprah recommend organic body butters. Teenagers, housewives, and career women incorporate organic body butters into their shopping lists and the household budget. The world, it seems, has gone butter-crazy.

Looking Good the Healthy Way
Just what is it about organic body butters that appeal to so many, from the rural communities in fourteenth-century Africa to the posh homes of modern America? Experts say it’s the natural ingredients. Body Butter lets you moisturize your skin without the toxins that are characteristic of factory-produced lotions. What’s good for your body is good for your skin. Organic butters take this mantra further by hydrating your skin with nutrients that normally nourish the body. Then, too, organic butters do much more than moisturize. They relax and heal, and may be utilized for other purposes, such as treating rashes, smoothing scars and wrinkles, and soothing muscle pains. With organic body butters and organic shea butters you beautify, not toxify. Who wouldn’t want that?

Body Butter to Maintain Your Spray Tan

May 23rd, 2009 Jenny Comments off

Maintaining an airbrush/spray tan can take a little work, but if you put the time and effort into it, your tan can last up to ten days.

Wait!
One of the biggest things you should remember is not to wash off the bronzer and DHA too soon! I routinely get spray tans, but in the beginning I would get too worried about the color being too dark or get too impatient, and I would wash before the DHA had time to do its magic. I tell people to wait at least 8-12 hours before showering, the longer you wait, the better! Make sure your first shower you are only rinsing off the bronzer, not scrubbing with your loofah brush! When you do use soap on your next wash, make sure it is a mild cleansing body wash. I actually use Natural Concepts from WalMart. It’s a decent, cheap body wash that does not contain soap or AHA(alpha hydroxy acid). AHA can cause premature exfoliation, and that is a bad thing when you are trying to maintain a spray tan. I would also suggest steering clear of any Dove products or Bath and Body Works products when you are trying to maintain your sunless tan.

Avoid long showers/baths!
Always avoid long hot showers and baths, and do not scrub your skin. If you must use a washcloth, make sure it is a soft one, but using your hands and your mild body wash works the best. When you are finished showering, pat your skin, don’t rub! The friction from the towel can make your tan rub right off!

No chlorine!
Now, I know we all like to go to the pool or sit in a hot tub when we have a beautiful tan, but the chlorine in swimming pools and hot tubs can actually remove the tan, or at least, shorten the longevity of your tan. If you must go in the pool/hot tub, remember to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! That will help, but you will still see some fading. Shea Body Butter is the best product for this that I have found.

Moisturize with Body Butter!
Moisturizer is a spray tanner’s best friend. The more you moisturize, the longer your tan will last. Apply morning and evening at the very least, and again, make sure the moisturizer does not have AHA(Alpha Hydroxy Acid). I like using Shea Body Butter , it also has a nice sheen when applied over your tan.

Exercise Cautiously!
Take care when exercising–the sweat and friction can definately cause problems with premature fade or uneven fade. Wear loose clothes if you can, and try to make sure your bra fits well and does not dig into any areas. When those areas sweat, the bra acts like an exfoliant!

Spray tans have definitely come a long way. They aren’t perfect, and even with the best care the face and hands tend to fade faster than the rest of the body, and certain areas such as between the breasts can sometimes look blotchy, but in my opinion the health benefits far outweigh the few imperfections you can get. Spray tans offer a safe alternative to UV tanning, and generally provide a great color.

There are products available to help extend your tan. Many of the spray tanning companies, including my company, offer their own products, such as moisturizers, tan extenders( with DHA), and body washes intended primarily for people who spray tan. I suggest at the very least to purchase the aerosol personal bronzer, especially due to the fading issues of faces and hands. The personal bronzer gives you the abilitiy to self-spray small areas of the body that have prematurely faded.

With the above suggestions, you now have the tools and knowledge to extend the life of your spray tan as long as you can. With regular spray tans and good maintenance, your body will become used to the DHA and over time it will take less tanning sessions to achieve the same or better results.

Shea Butter – The Gold of the Beauty Industry

May 23rd, 2009 Jenny Comments off

Shea Body Butter or shea nut butter is an ivory colour natural fat extracted from the fruit of Karite Nut Tree, (also called the Magnafolia Tree). The karite tree lives for a few hundred years and produces its first fruit from the age of 20 -25 years. This tree grows to a length of 15-20 meters and only blooms from June to July. The fruits resemble large plums, which fall to the ground when ripe. Each fruit contains a nut with a hard white kernel, which is the source of the shea butter. Small fruit bats pollinate Karite trees, which helps continue the trees existence. The karite tree grows naturally in the savannah of West Africa. It grows in 19 countries across the African continent. In Ghana, Sudan, Zaire, Ethiopia, Benin, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Mali, Niger, Togo, Uganda, Guinea, Cote d’Iviore, Guinea Bissau and Chad. The African women walk long distances to gather the fruit and are also responsible for the production of the shea butter. Production is a long and laborious task. The shea nuts are first dried in the sun, then the nuts are cracked open by hand pounding. After opening the nuts are boiled to release the shea butter. Once released the fluid is kneaded to transform it into an ivory coloured paste known as shea butter. This is then poured into containers ready for exporting. Shea Butter is valuable natural resource to the rural communities of West Africa. Each year tonnes of shea butter is exported around the world. The production and exportation of shea butter not only provides these communities with fresh water, medical treatment, housing and schooling but, also strengthens their economic future.

Shea butter is one of the most affective natural moisturises. It is used in soaps, balms, creams, lotions and hair conditioners (adds and maintains moisture in dry brittle hair giving it a softer appearance). Shea butter absorbs rapidly into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. Shea butter is also rich in vitamins A and E. (Vitamin A promotes enzyme activity in the skin, thickens the epidermis and helps skin cells rejuvenate in a healthier way. Vitamin E is a natural anti-oxidant that slows down the signs of aging and the degeneration of skin cells. Reduces fine lines and wrinkles and soothes the irritation of dry skin). Shea bodybutter also has remarkable healing qualities. It is known to be effective in the treatment of scars, wrinkles, very dry skin, stretch marks, eczema, chapped lips, rashes, acne, blemishes and fading scars. This natural ingredient also contains cinnamic acid, which provides natural protection against the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays.

The Positive Effects Of Natural Body Butters

May 23rd, 2009 Jenny Comments off

Natural body butter  rejuvenates your skin cells regardless of what damage you have done to your skin. Dry skin can occur if you spend too much time in the sun or by the natural aging process. Other factors that can lead to dry skin include smoking and drinking alcohol. Even if you do not suffer from dry skin, applying body butter to your skin will help keep it fresh and vitalized. Natural body butters can feature many different ingredients, as long as they are natural products. An example of some ingredients includes beeswax, sweet almond oil, rose otto, lavender, witch hazel and grape seed oil. These popular butters can be used all over your body; they are not just for your face. If you have dry skin on your feet then these creams can work wonders for your feet. If you have dry itching skin, it is suggested that you speak to your doctor or dermatologist before applying any natural body butters. Some skin conditions could require prescription medication to resolve the problem. Once the medical condition has cleared then you can apply body butter. A good cream will supply your skin with all the vitamins it needs. Avoid the cheap manufactured products that contain many chemicals.

Why are natural body butters so good for the skin? One reason is that they are excellent hydrating products. The oils in these products are the key to providing the proper nutrients to the skin and keeping the skin soft and young looking. The seeds or nuts are ground then cooked until the fat and oil is released. If you have nut allergies then it is advisable to stay away from body butters that use nut oils. One of the most popular natural body butters is Shea Butter. This highly sought after product is derived from the karite tree. This tree grows in the West African savannah. The locals in the area refer to it as the Tree of Life. This butter has very high vitamin content and this helps nourish the skin and enhance skin cell regeneration thoroughly. Using a good butter on your feet can do wonders for dry cracked feet. It will help keep infections away and really, helps to soothe your feet and it will help improve your circulation as well. For some people, a good butter helps their eczema or their dry itchy skin condition. If you have a skin condition, have it looked at by a dermatologist and they can guide you to the proper care and reconditioning of your skin before you try any product including natural body butters. Since natural body butters are just that, natural, they should be stored in a cool place, because they will liquefy in warm climates. You can find these organic products available on numerous websites. If purchasing online, keep in mind that you will likely be paying shipping and handling charges as well. For some people, they have no option but to buy online because there is no local store selling these products.
